How do I lock and unlock my car?

Smartphone
Go to your booking in the MyWheels app or on mywheels.nl. You will see a green button to start your booking, and the car will unlock within 15 seconds.

Are you looking to lock the car at the end of your trip?
Go to your booking and click on "End trip". Do this only once you are outside the car and with the key in the glove compartment. Please note! Never lock the car with the key at the end of your trip.

OV chip card
You can use any OV chip card, including anonymous ones; we do not make any deductions from your chip card. If you would like to add an OV chip card to your account, hold it to the card reader near the windscreen at the start of your booking. You will automatically receive a text message. Answer ‘yes’ to the text message in order to link your OV chip card to your account (you only need to do this once). The car will unlock within 15 seconds.

Are you looking to lock the car at the end of your trip?
You can also lock the car with the OV chip card, after you have put the key in the glove compartment. If you return earlier than expected, locking the car with your OV chip card does not end your booking – to do this, use the MyWheels app or go to mywheels.nl.
During your trip, use the car key for unlocking and locking the car. Only at the end of your trip should you lock the car using your smartphone or OV chip card.
